Just outside of Douglas, Wyoming, Derek heads to Wagonhound Ranch to try and fill his general deer tags.
Wagonhound is a family owned and managed livestock raising red angus cattle and highly-acclaimed quarter horses on 330k private acres. It’s also home to some very healthy whitetail herds with monster bucks.
On Day 2, Derek heads for a run-and-gun bowhunting tactic to swiftly and silently track a 10-point. After creeping up on him for a few yards, Derek gets the drop on him as the deer quickly goes down.
Two days later, Derek arrives at Saguache, Colorado, a high alpine town in the San Luis Valley surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range.
78-yards out, Derek draws his bow and sends a broadhead straight into the chest of an older deer the team nicknames “Old Forky.”
