In November, Derek heads to Montana to chase Whitetail with a crew from Eastmans Journal. On their first night of arrival, Derek and crew head to the ladder stands to get in an evening sit, catching sight of some younger bucks.

The next morning brings lots of deer sighting from does to growing bucks and one good-sized buck that wasn’t in the best position. Being the rut, lots of bucks are actively on the chase for a willing doe.

Mid-day, Derek and team head out on foot, following scrapes and rattling in a monster Montana buck.

The buck stays behind the brush, creeping slowly, but the boys bring him out and make him pause with some deep calls.

Derek gets the drop on him with one clean shot.
